I have been painting, drawing and doodling curling waves in the margins of notebooks, on paper coasters, postcards and almost anywhere a doodle can be scribbled, for as long as I can remember. There’s some indescribable, mystical pull that draws the human eye to a breaking wave. We cannot claim to understand it and instead have completely surrendered to endlessly appreciating the beauty of surf in all its forms. Erudite meditation teacher, Jon Kabat-Zinn once opined, “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” In the spirit of such wisdom, we hope our ChicaDee Wave Love Trucker hat inspires the remembrance of flow states, in the surf and on land!
We bought our first Chicadee hat for our 9-year old a year ago at a market in Whistler. My older son regretted not getting one so we ordered the Wave hat online. My kids have very different head shapes and sizes but these hats look great on both of them and fit really well. They are their favourite hats to wear.
As always, the artwork is a masterpiece. The one piece of feedback is that I have purchased several chickadee hats before for myself and my partner, but this particular one seemed to be sized a little smaller. We both have large heads and max out the sizing of the trucker hat, but this one barely fit on his head even when it was on the max sizing.
One more hat for me, otherwise we still love chicadee
Thanks for you kind words! Yes we had some designs that were in a batch of hats made in the early summer that seemed to be slightly smaller. It's a strange mystery, as our hats are all made from the same sized patterns. On purpose we chose a slightly larger style of hat for our latest fall order (and all future orders). It seems to fit slightly larger than our original sizing, and noticeably larger than the summer batch. Cheers!
